NBISC Invasive Species BioBlitz 2023!

You’re invited to join NBISC’s first Invasive Species BioBlitz! From September 17th – 24th, look for invasive plants, insects, wildlife, or evidence of disease in your area and submit a photo or video of it to the “NBISC Invasive Species BioBlitz 2023” iNaturalist project. Not only is this a great way to explore your backyard and local natural areas, but your observations will help NBISC and our partners to track the spread of various invasive species and improve our ability to manage them.

Registering will allow us to contact you if you win one of two prize packs available during the event, by either 1) submitting invasive species observations to the project and/or 2) attending our in-person BioBlitz on September 17th at Killarney Lake. See below for more information about the prize packs and the in-person BioBlitz.

Here are 15 invasive species to get you started!

This is a list of 15 invasive species that are commonly found or are invasive species of high concern for our organization. Our iNaturalist project captures all invasive species known in New Brunswick or could potentially be a threat, so we encourage you to submit other invasives that are not on this list. We can’t wait to see what you find!

How do I win one of the prize packs?

Submit invasive species observations to the NBISC Invasive Species BioBlitz 2023 iNaturalist project from September 17th -24th, 2023. Each unique submission counts as one (1) entry for a draw for the first prize pack. The winner will be chosen after the event had ended, and we will contact the winner using the information that was submitted to register for the event.

Prize includes: $50 gift card to Back Trails - Radical Edge, and NBISC swag including a copy of our new “Grow Me Instead” guide.
