What We Do at NBISC
We work to prevent the introduction and spread of invasive species through education, partnerships, and coordinated action that helps protect New Brunswick's environment, economy, and communities.
The New Brunswick Invasive Species Council (NBISC) is a non-profit organization operating under Invasives Canada. As New Brunswick's invasive species coordination hub, we work with government, municipalities, researchers, industry, watershed and community organizations, volunteers, indigenous communities and other partners to support collaborative invasive species prevention across the province.
Why Our Work Matters
Invasive species have been introduced to an area outside of their native range, causing negative impacts on the natural environment by out-competing native biodiversity and altering ecosystem functioning.
They also have negative impacts on the economy, human health, and livelihoods through damage to infrastructure and reductions in agricultural or natural resource yields.
